Chief Technology Officer

Francis Upton IV

Francis has more than 40 years of deep technical experience in operating systems, data communication and transformation, and software architecture.

In his current role, he is responsible both for our innovative platform for rapid application development and data management suited to supporting strategic decisions; and the delivery of applications that help organisations to make difficult trade-off decisions.

He has held engineering and management positions at Digital Equipment Corporation, Hewlett Packard and Fortè Software. Francis made significant contributions to the ISO/IEC Distributed Transaction Processing standard. He has also served as a volunteer committer in the Eclipse and Jenkins open-source projects.

As an entrepreneur, Francis worked as an executive in several startups including his own, Oakland Software, which developed data transformation technology that was licensed to MuleSoft and eventually sold to Talend. At Talend, Francis served as the initial VP Architecture and Governance, creating the cross-function architecture group.
